We spent the morning investigating a mysterious device. I have built a device that I call "whirr, bing." It is hidden inside a bag, and when I pull a string that is coming out of the bag, the result is the whirr, bing sound. The students made predictions about what they thought the device looked like. I then handed out all the raw materials, the individual components that make up the device. Working as a team, the students then tried to problem solve their way through building the device. Tomorrow, we will continue the process, and in the end, I will open the bag and reveal my device. There was much excitement, frustration and problem solving throughout the classroom!
